The Project
Sex, Death, and Rock is an interactive 1980s rock'n'roll game show that I art directed for Two Bit Circus.
I began working with the show's creator, Josh Randall, to develop the concept and title art for the show. The title card I designed served as the jumping off point for the rest of the art direction. I worked closely with a team of game designers, developers, show writers, and producers to create a cohesive look for the weekly live game show. (It was originally called Sex, Death, and Clowns but audience feedback lamented the lack of actual clowns, thus the discrepancy in the title card above)
I worked with a graphic designer, providing ideas and feedback to develop the many assets needed to build out the game. The show consists of several sections with mini-games, each with a different style of play and theme. I was responsible for directing the overarching visual identity of the show and making sure all game assets were provided to the game developers.
I also designed some additional static and motion graphics for the game. For example, the game shown below has users “drunkenly smash” their hotel room by swiping objects on their tablet. I conceptualized and developed all of the assets for this game to fit the handmade punk-zine inspired aesthetic of the show.
